Go with your gut

When in doubt go with your gut. When building JerkyXP, we as team had to decide what way to go with the company. Should we sell in stores? Should we strictly offer subscriptions? Should we diversify our lineup to accommodate more customers? Should we spend a ton of money on a new website? The list goes on and on. Obviously we thought through all the ways extensively and decided where to set our goals. But you are faced with many decisions on a daily basis when running your own business. Decisions you make determine the future of your company and we all want to make the right moves. There's one thing all entrepreneurs know and that is we will fail everyday and use that failure as a lesson going forward. I believe that as long as your financials aline, go with your gut. I can say that we did not always go with our gut and ended up spending money (a lot of money) on things that did not add value to the company. Thinking we needed to upgrade our website 3 times was one of those things. We spent a lot of money thinking that having the best looking would increase sales ten fold, we were wrong. We experienced this with 4 or 5 other aspects of the company as well. That being said we failed (a lot) and unlike in school where if you fail you're a failure, in the real world you either win or you learn. We failed in many aspects of building the company but at the end of the day we learned invaluable information that helped grow the company over time and expanded our knowledge on business and ecommerce. We would not be here today without those failures, and we embrace them. Keep hustling, keep learning, go with you gut and if you make the wrong decision use it as a lesson and get back up and continue to move forward.
